Passengers traveling from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport will have some new alternatives this summer since American Airlines, Icelandair and WOW air will all begin new services to Iceland’s Keflavik International (KEF). The Icelandic carriers will start next month while AA’s service launches in the beginning of June. Never before has a new route from Keflavik International been operated by three airlines from day one. AA will offer daily departures to Iceland while Icelandair offers 4 fligths per week and WOW air has 3 departures.
In total there will be available close to 2000 seats from DFW to Iceland each week this summer. That is a high number for a new route to Iceland and according to our price surveys the fares have been changing quite rapidly since the Dallas-Iceland flights where initially announced late last year. And in some cases, you might be able to get much cheaper tickets today compared to when sales started. But when comparing prices, one must also keep in mind that the service included (luggage, food, etc) is more limited if you choose the low-cost carrier WOW air while Icelandair offer fares with or without checked luggage.
If you plan to visit the Blue Lagoon, one of the most popular destinations in Iceland, then you should book in advance and last minute booking of accommodation is not recomended during the high season.
