The taxi fare from Keflavík Airport into Reykjavík city centre is considerably higher than in Oslo and Stockholm, although the distance is approximately the same. The taxi company BSR charges 15,500 ISK  for airport pick-up and drop-off while Hreyfill, Reykjavík’s other main taxi service company, charges 16,000 ISK for the same service.

However, it is important to note that if taking a taxi from Reykjavík city to Keflavík Airport, it is better to book through the respective taxi service centre or your hotel and to state in advance that you are going to the airport. If not, the taxi will probably charge by the meter rather than the fixed airport drop-off price.

The airport shuttles

Three bus companies offer airport shuttle service to and from Keflavík Airport: Grey Line/Airport Express; Flybus; and Airport Direct. Grey Line’s price is currently the cheapest (2,700 ISK). All three companies charge 1,000 ISK extra for transport to your hotel from the bus terminal in Reykjavík but still it is cheaper option than sharing a taxi with 3 other passengers. On top of that you will get a discount if you buy a return ticket with a shuttle. Click here for information on the Airport Shuttle services to and from Keflavik International Airport.
The ridesharing service Uber is not available in Iceland.
