Flight connection between Iceland and Italy will greatly improve this winter when WOW air and Norwegian will offer regular flights to Milan and Rome, respectively. Up until now, direct flights between Iceland and Italy have only been available during the summer.
WOW air has offered seasonal flights to Milan for some time and will now continue direct flights to the city all year round. The airline will offer service three times a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Passengers will depart from Keflavík International Airport aboard an Airbus A320 at 07.00 and land in Milan at 12.30, local time. WOW air hopes the new route will boost its transatlantic service.
Norwegian will launch direct flights between Keflavík and Rome this autumn. The carrier will offer twice-weekly flights as of late-October. The carrier’s planes will depart from Keflavík around noon. The flights from Rome depart at 07.00.
These new services will not make traveling to Italy easier for the Icelanders during the winter but at the same time Italians will be able to visit Iceland during the colder months without having to fly via some other European airport on their way to Iceland.
